Abstract
ABSTRACT
Objective: The objective of this systematic review is to synthesize the existing evidence on reading comprehension strategies used in Iberoamerican countries, in order to identify effective practices, common challenges and areas of opportunity for the improvement of reading comprehension.
Methodology: A documentary study (systematic review) was carried out. The Scielo database was used to search for information. The keywords used were: Strategies, reading comprehension, reading comprehension, schoolchildren and Chile. The period was 2017 to 2021. The information was recorded in an observation form. Fourteen studies were identified, 2 in English and 12 in Spanish.
Results: The results of the study highlight that there is little research on reading comprehension strategies at different levels of schooling. This systematic review highlights the need for greater investment in research on reading comprehension strategies in Ibero-America.
Conclusion: This systematic review highlights the urgent need to increase research on reading comprehension strategies in pre-basic and basic education in Ibero-America, which could have a significant impact on improving educational quality and academic achievement in the long term.
